you might not always have to have other fishes in your sea

and no i'm not being emo

For these past two weeks, I would say I’ve learned a lot more about myself and how my patterns affect my daily life. As much as I want to be independent, I’ve realized that I’ll always need someone to rely on and talk to. Keeping everything inside only makes things harder when you eventually let it all out at once. At the same time, I’ve learned that choosing the right person to confide in is just as important. Sometimes you don’t need the people you think you do, and sometimes it’s okay to wait for the right person. This whole “I need them, but I don’t” feeling has been confusing, but I’ll figure it out. I always do.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about how life doesn’t always work out the way you expect it to. People always say there’s a light at the end of every dark tunnel, but what if the light is a train coming our direction? Maybe not everything is supposed to be sunshine and rainbows, and honestly, that’s okay. I think learning to make logical decisions, read the room, and understand people’s emotions is a lot better than regretting something you can’t change anymore. Although, who in their right mind would want to walk through a tunnel anyway?

Well, apart from my little philosophical rant, I’ve been locked in on my classes this year. So far junior year has been treating me pretty well, and I’ve been putting in my best effort. We also had our first FCCLA meeting, and we tripled our chapter size! Four times as many people want to compete this year, so it feels like our chapter is really peaking right now. I also get my FCCLA CEAT results this week for the national officer role, which has me feeling scared, happy, nervous, confused, and basically every other emotion that comes with it. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

We also started our first service project making happy socks and tug braid toys for the Plano Animal Shelter. I’m hoping to talk to the shelter staff and get part of my interview done after I ask Ms. Russell. For ISM, I’ve started looking into previous research related to my research question to see if my hypothesis is falsifiable and to make sure I have enough research and data to back me up once I start writing my paper.

And then there’s PawsForCause. Aidan and I have now scaled it to 20+ chapters across three countries, and I’m honestly really proud of us for getting it this far. Aidan has been one of my closer friends since freshman year, and this isn’t the first time I’ve worked with him in a startup/nonprofit situation. One thing I do know is that we work really well when we’ve both got each other. We’re different in our own ways, but that difference has made us a stronger team. Him moving from California to Taiwan has definitely made things harder with the time difference, but somehow we still get things done at the end of the day.

Oh, and I also got a new favorite quote for this week: “A dumb person in motion does better than a genius in rest.” I think that one fits me pretty well.

Well, that’s basically what has happened in the last two weeks, and I’ll keep this posted! Big things are coming!
